Let’s celebrate!
Last month, in December, the Benavides STEAM Academy received the USDA Farm to School Grant. We are one of five schools in the District to receive funding. The purpose of the grant is to improve access to local foods in schools.
As part of this generous grant, we now have hanging tower gardens which will help us grow food indoors. They will be used to aid in teaching students all about plants and agriculture. One first grade student was chosen from each class to help put the gardens together. A big thank you to Mr. Crossen and Mr. Mendoza for helping build the towers!
